Review of Prodigal God

Typically, when you hear the story of the story of the “Prodigal Son” taught, most the emphasis is placed on the wild younger brother. However, it is often missed that the elder brother was lost and outside of the feast of the father too. In his new book Prodigal God (Dutton, 2008), Dr. Timothy Keller expounds upon this beautiful parable with brilliant insight, and shows how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to save the reckless as well as the religious. It is a short, easy, and truly enjoyable read that displays the radical beauty of grace.

Dr. Keller is the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, and a highly acclaimed speaker and author. His book Reason for
God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism, which was also published in 2008, won World Magazine¹s Book of the Year award.

ESV Study Bible

Dear Northerners,

One of the greatest desires of my heart is that you all would fall deeply in love with the Word of God. I sincerely hope that the ministry of North stirs your interest in the Bible and supplies you with the tools you need to understand it on your own. That is the primary reason that we walk through books of the Bible at North, and I am constantly searching for ways to equip you to better understand scripture.

I light of that, I want to highly recommend a recently released study Bible. It’s in the English Standard Version (which is the one we use in North), and the bible itself holds all kinds of historical and theological study aids.

View this video that shows you some of its features.

I hope you all can purchase and enjoy one. They are a bit expensive so you might need to ask for one for Christmas from mom and dad.

I love you, and I am praying for you everyday,

David
